2 Morse, Samuel Finley Breese (F. B.)
(1791-1872) Морзе, Сэмюэл Финли БризИзобретатель, художник. Преподавал курс живописи и рисования в Нью-Йоркском университете. В 1826 стал одним из главных основателей Национальной академии художеств [ National Academy of Design], в 1826-45 и 1861-72 был ее президентом. Однако в истории остался прежде всего благодаря тому, что в 1838 изобрел релейное устройство для телеграфа и кодовую азбуку, получившую его имя. Первое телеграфное сообщение с использованием азбуки Морзе было передано из г. Вашингтона в г. Балтимор в 1844.
